Epilogue - Where the Wild Roses Grow

~ Earlier that night ~

( “I want you to let me out of here and release the man Dean Winchester”, Castiel says through the door. The guard probably won't listen to him, but there's no way he can give up now. He can't give up on Dean when Dean never gave up on him. But the guard doesn't deliver anything but more disappointment for Castiel. )

( Dean pulls his head out of his shirt collar, looking at Castiel while shaking his head. Castiel doesn't say anything but just flattens Dean's hair from the static electricity the shirt created. Dean takes his hand and squeezes it. “You have done a lot of things for me and you know it. But, I think it's your time to tell a story. What happened 'a long, long time ago'?” )

( Gabriel meets Sam's eyes but Sam's beaten up look only seems to put fuel to the fire that is Gabriel's rage. The short man's hands are balled up into fists and from the strained lines of his jaw, Sam can see how hard he is clenching his teeth. )

( “Oh, you mean this?” He motioned towards his black eye as he sat down. A shrug followed but at least he kept eye contact with Dean who took a seat in front of him. Finally, Gabriel admits. “Crowley's boys came over.” )

Fifteen years later

( Instead he found himself staring into the guy's eyes and he was looking back at Dean's. Now, Dean wasn't one for emotional crap, but this man really had those kinds of eyes that poets would write their life's work about. They were blue, bright and probably designed to make people drown in them. )

( Dean knew he should have stayed away. All his senses had screamed at him to get the hell out of there: to turn around and run for his life. Even Gabriel had told him that it was a bad idea, and that was saying something. )
